Overview
Beyond visual identity, the Government’s brand extends to how ministries and institutions communicate: the language they use, how public communications are approved, and how their websites, social media, and official email are run.
This section sets out those standards, so that every channel a ministry or institution uses — print, digital, or spoken — speaks with one voice.
Language of Government Communication
The official language for Government communication with the public, and for correspondence between ministries and institutions, is Somali.
Arabic, English, and other languages may be used for communications of an international nature, or where legal reasons require another language.
Official Email Policy
The Ministry of Communications and Technology creates and administers the official email accounts of ministries and institutions, including the Official Government Email System and any open-platform accounts (such as Gmail) used for Government business. Officials and staff may not use personal email accounts for official national business.
Official email accounts for the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice-President, and the Ministry of the Presidency are created and administered by the Ministry of the Presidency’s own Technology Department.
Communication Procedure
All communications of national importance that a ministry or institution intends to share with the public pass through the Office of the President’s Adviser on Strategic Communications before public release, to ensure consistency with Government policy and brand standards.
